Released March 5th, 2013 is yet another first for a Starbucks Card. This time we've got a plastic Card made with wood, in this case birch. It's not known what the percentages of each are, but it does have a "woody" feel. You won't have to worry about getting splinters though, the cards are laminated to feel like any other Starbucks card.
The idea came about because some Starbucks customers on MyStarbucksIdea.com suggested cards that were more friendly to the planet.
This is a brown toned Card with two steaming cups of coffee, one being ceramic and the other a paper cup. SPECIAL EDITION is printed in the bottom left.
The back identifies the Card as being made with birch. It reads: The wood in this card is birch, harvested from sustainable managed forests. Click magnifying glass for a closer look. In addition for the first time, we've noticed that this Card has a licensed patent. It reads: Licensed under one or more of the following patents: D505, 450/D573, 182/D632, 735.
