Tokyo 2012 ver. 3

Exclusive to the Japanese market and released in 2012 is the Tokyo Card. This is one of 6 Special Edition "city" Cards released on June 2nd 2012. It should be noted that this Card has had three (3) releases. This is the breakdown.

VERSION #1 - Old siren with STARBUCKS CARD on front. 2010
VERSION #2 - NEW siren with STARBUCKS CARD on front. 2011
VERSION #3 - NEW siren with blank front. 2012

This actually makes the 3rd version for the Tokyo Starbucks Card. The first in 2010 with the original sirens eye, again in late 2011 with a sirens eye update, and then this new design in 2012.

No, the icon in the top left isn't the Riffel Tower, but the Tokyo Tower. Tokyo Tower is a famous Japanese and Tokyo icon and landmark made famous through many Japanese films and anime. Tokyo Tower which is primarily a tv antenna tower, is styled like the Eiffel Tower. Tokyo Tower is also a popular tourist destination as an observation deck which provides views over the Tokyo Bay Area and of some of the surrounding areas. On very rare occasions, when the air is particularly clear, you can see Mt. Fuji . Over the years much of the view from Tokyo Tower has been obscured by the many other tall buildings in Tokyo , many of which are taller than Tokyo Tower and loosely seen on this new Starbucks Card.

In addition, the Tokyo Tower has two observation decks (as mentioned above), an aquarium, a wax museum and a Trick Art Gallery plus several food outlets.

Tokyo is the capital and largest metropolitan area of Japan. It is the seat of the Japanese government and the Imperial Palace , and the home of the Japanese Imperial Family. Tokyo was described as one of the three "command centers" for the world economy, along with New York City and London, ironically each with their own Starbucks Card. 12.79 million people live in Tokyo with 8.653 million living within Tokyo's 23 wards.
