Released on September 3rd, 2012 is the Hummingbird Card, exclusive to Japan.
The face shows a steaming green cup with the wording "You and Starbucks." Note the little red heart. The hummingbird image is designed to show through a special die-cut Sleeve.
The hummingbird folklore comes from the Andes of South America. It is a story that tells us the importance of the small force of a hummingbird that carried water droplets to a forest fire burning in the mountains. Starbucks is using this Card to raise funds for children who have become orphaned due to the Great East Japan Earthquake disaster. The main objective of the money raised is for education programs. The program and fund raising runs through December 25, 2012.
