Released July 14th, 2010 is the Autumn Festival Card , also known as the Moon Festival, and is a popular harvest festival celebrated by Chinese people, dating back over 3,000 years. It is also sometimes referred to as the Lantern Festival or Mooncake Festival .
The Mid-Autumn Festival is held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese calendar, so for 2010 the festival is September 22nd. It is a date that parallels the autumnal equinox of the solar calendar, when the moon is supposedly at its fullest and roundest. The traditional food of this festival is the mooncake, of which there are many different varieties.
This Card on bright orange, reflects the full moon with colorful autumn leaves. We don't know the significance of the bird (if any), but it's a common practice for the whole family to watch the full moon on the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
