We don't need to tell you this is a very special card. Made for Starbucks approval, this prototype is considered ONE OF A KIND. In 2001, the "Double-Shot" card, also known as the "Espresso" Card, was issued to partners only. The card itself is matte finish with a very rustic photo of an old La Marzocco espresso machine pulling two shots. This image is popular with Starbucks Partners because they saw this sight all the time while making people's drinks. It had a special meaning to them and became instantly cherished by partners and eventually everyone who likes Starbucks Cards.
Before any partner received their card in 2001, this prototype was sent to Seattle for approval, along with other color samples. Four (4) colored production samples were produced in the 6004 series. Each sample had a different ink stamp color that was provided to Starbucks for their approval. These individual colors included blue, green, silver and gold. These "sample" Cards were produced at the very beginning of the Starbucks Card program and are also believed to be ONE OF A KIND. In the end, Starbucks opted for the red stamped account number on these Cards. That is what this auction is - the only card believed to exist as a red numbered 0000-0000-0000-0000 prototype.
This is as good as it gets for any collector. This is Starbucks Card history. |
