"Flamingo"

Starbucks and the San Diego Zoo joined together to raise awareness - and financial support - to help save endangered species through an annual Art Contest. 

Judges selected Gloria Chadwick's beautiful portrait of flamingos.  Her artwork is featured on this very special card, as well as on a splash proof drink tumbler. For every purchase of this card or tumbler, Starbucks donated $2.00 to the San Diego Zoo's worldwide conservation efforts. NOTE: Card was issued with a minimum of 20.00. To date, the highest price paid for the Flamingo Card (as of 4-6-13) is $462.00, where the old record was $355.00 from June 4th, 2006.

This card is considered highly collectable because it was issued only to Southern California during it's promotional period. The Card has a matching Sleeve (see Special Sleeves page or click link above). Also highly collectable is the matching pin issued only to Starbucks partners in the San Diego market (see below).

Here's a quote from Gloria: "It was a terrific honor to win the competition and everything was sold out within 6 weeks. $2.00 from each sale went to the program CRES which promotes the genetic study and preservation of our most exotic animals. The flamingos I painted are located at the front of the zoo, opposite the entrance and its a common meeting place for people to meet at the zoo. When I made the painting a new exhibit was being constructed. As a native San Diegan its such a priviledge to have access to the world's finest collection of birds, animals and plants.
