"Washington D.C."
Centennial Cherry Blossom

Released exclusively to the District of Columbia around the end of April 2012 - this is the first Starbucks Card for Washington D.C. The release timing is perfect with the pink cherry blossoms in bloom, highlighted with the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial and the Potomac river.

2012 marks the Cherry Blossom Centennial as in 1912, an incredible gift of 3,000 cherry blossom trees was bestowed on Washington, DC by Tokyo, Japan. Rooted strongly and surviving outside elements, the trees have withstood the test of time – and now a century later, the National Cherry Blossom Festival had an unprecedented and once-in-a-lifetime celebration. This epic 5-week spectacular was celebrated from March 20 – April 27, 2012.

Additional note: The United States Postal Service released "Forever" stamps commemorating the Cherry Blossom Centennial.
