"Heritage"

On July 1st, 2003, Canadians celebrated Canada Day with this special exclusive Canadian card. Starbucks introduced this masterpiece designed by Canadian artist Andrew Lewis. His artwork captures and celebrates the spirit and beauty of Canada with the inspiration of exploration and adventure - a history of overcoming obstacles in traversing vast distances - a history that propels them even today.

Starbucks provided their Canadian stores with a number of counter displays. What few realized was the special nature of the card attached to those displays. They were SPECIMEN cards, with NO card number, NO serial number or coverings. Based on the number of Starbucks stores in Canada that were open in 2003 (keep in mind Quebec didn't have Starbucks) and accepted the card during this release, we can only assume approximately 500 SPECIMEN cards were made for the displays. Many were probably destroyed after the promotion period as we haven't seen any for months.

This image shows the Specimen card on top, compared with the original street card on the bottom.
